Do Stuff
That’s RadioShack’s motto. I suggest they change it to “We Have No Idea What We’re Talking About.” Two times in the last two months I’ve been to two different Radioshack’s, asking for two different products. Both times, a RadioShack employee has told me these items don’t exist.
During my first visit, I asked if they sold a 4-pin to 6-pin FireWire cable. The RadioShack employee told me he was pretty sure those didn’t exist and that they certainly didn’t have it in the store. Not only do these cables very much exist, RadioShack sells them on their website! (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2350454&cp=&sr=1&origkw=firewire&kw=firewire&parentPage=search) I ended up buying the cable on Amazon for about $2 plus shipping (RadioShack charges around $20).
For my second trip to RadioShack, I was hunting for a VGA or DVI to S-Video cable. I asked an employee if they sold these, and again he told me they don’t exist. Just like the FireWire cable from before, the VGA to S-Video converter can be purchased relatively cheap on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/EFORCITY-VGA-S-Video-RCA-Adaptor/dp/B000P3UB24). After telling me this doesn’t exist, he shows me a product that, among other things, could yield the same results as a VGA to S-Video, for the low low price of $100. No thanks.
Please don’t shop at RadioShack. Not only do they not know what they’re doing, but they overcharge way too much.

It is difficult to walk into a retail store like radio shack and get someone that is knowledgeable about a wide range of cables and connectivity devices.
You should try http://www.showmecables.com These guys actually answer the phone.
The VGA to S-Video does exist, but inthe form of a converter (for less than $100).
